Hello!

I'm Mike Dial and I aim to foster a culture of continuous improvement in higher education by partnering with practitioners and organizations to identify, develop, and implement effective strategies and practices that positively impact student success.

About Me.

I am a scholar-practitioner with a decade of experience in the field of higher education.  Currently,  I am the Associate Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising at the University Advising Center at the University of South Carolina.  Previously I served as the Assistant Director for Peer Leadership within University 101 Programs at USC where I managed the nationally recognized Peer Leader Program. I began my career in higher education, in a role focused on supporting at-risk students within the USC Student Success Center. In addition to professional roles at the University of South Carolina, I have held several formal roles related to scholarly publications with both NACADA the Global Community for Academic Advising and the National Resource Center on the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition.

My scholarly interests include academic advising, advising administration, and supporting at-risk students as well as students on academic probation.

Scholarship & Publications

My scholarly pursuits have enabled me to network and collaborate with fellow scholars while refining my own ideas. I hope my writing helps other practitioner-scholars to clarify their own thinking and practice.

I welcome the opportunity to collaborate if our scholarly interests align. Please don't hesitate to reach out.
